Roy Iaconis, who heads up the Floral Park, L.I., organization, tells us that the Manhattan-based Columbus Citizens Foundation – which has been organizing the process since 1929 – has a realistic monopoly over the parade. He also complains that the foundation's selection to study digit of its possess members – shelter broker Joe Plumeri – as the parade's noble lawman "smacks of cronyism."
